About Us
Nourish My Soul is empowering young people to have a positive impact on the health of the community through food sovereignty. We are connecting young people to the Earth as they become the stewards that will protect our planet and feed future generations. We provide hands on learning for growing, preparing, and sharing healthy foods.
We accomplish this through Farm to School education, numerous programs on the farm and in the kitchen, as well as online learning to be more accessible. Our offering of programs is always evolving to meet the needs of our community; some of which are:
From The Ground UP: Our high school leadership full year intensive program where young adults study food systems, assess their own communities, develop a project based on identified needs, implement project (including fundraising), and educate the community. Our alumni have gone on to accomplish remarkable things, citing what they learned in our program as their foundation for success.
Farm Fresh Sprouts & Summer Adventures: A drop off program for ages 5-11 (CITs 12+) Young people learn sustainable growing practices, plant ID, environmental, and social emotional learning. Activities can include crafts, building, creating, growing, and tasting food! Participants gain a deeper relationship with the land, themselves, and one another. CITs gain strong leadership skills focused on empathy & positive mentorship. Farm Fresh Sprouts is offered in the Fall & Spring for Homeschooled families and the Summer Adventures is open to all.
Jr Chef: A popular program that is stirring up change for ages 10-13 by exploring culinary arts, food systems, nutrition, leadership, and teamwork. Each session culminates with a community outreach project that the chefs decide upon that will put their skills into actin helping others. Chefs leave this program understanding the power of food to bring people together.
Homefries: Designed for ages 7-13, we use food to explore Science, Math, Language, Geography, Culture, Arts, Nutrition, and Resilience. Participants will explore topics in a fun and interactive way.
Farm to School: We partner with many school districts to offer hands on learning in any subject matter that will bring the classroom alive. We help teachers reach their goals without adding extra work to their already heavy load. We also offer fun and restorative Professional Development to districts wanting to implement Farm to School curriculum.
Bagel Bonding: DId you know that Americans throw away 40% of the food supply? Food waste is a top contributor to climate change and we can actively do something to change that. Designed by our From The Ground UP leaders in 2019, this is a volunteer effort where we rescue perfectly good food from restaurants and grocery stores that would otherwise go into a landfill, package it, and redistribute it to our community.
